Crystal Palace “won’t be handing out disciplinary punishments”, according to the Evening Standard, after a bit of a moment between Chelsea loanee Michy Batshuayi and Palace captain Luka Milivojević on the training ground earlier this week.
The ... shall we call it, incident ... happened on Wednesday, in the build-up to last night’s scoreless draw against Arsenal, and even though the likes of the Mail report it now with breathless drama, the details make it quite clear why Palace didn’t deem it worthy of any further attention now, or at the time.
It was basically a drill that got out of hand a bit when carefree Michy messed around too much and fiery Luka got annoyed. The pair “exchanged blows”, says the Mail, which seems unlikely, and they ended up on the ground where the “scuffing” continued. And then they kissed and made up And then they were separated by teammates and went on with their days as normal.
The fact we’re only hearing about this now, two days later, is a good indication of how little this story matters, but it’s headline news because what isn’t these days, so here we are.
On the plus side, maybe Milivojević managed to knock some sense into Batshuayi in the process. Michy’s yet to score this season in any competition, and has played just 600 minutes across 12 appearances. His last Premier League start was two months ago, and has played less than 60 minutes in the competition since.
