After making short work of fourth division Morecambe FC in the FA Cup third round this weekend, Chelsea will have to deal with slightly tougher opposition in the fourth round and, if we make it that far, in the fifth round as well.
Earlier today, the Blues were drawn against Luton Town in the next round. The Hatters are currently 14th in the Championship. This match will take place in two weeks, over the weekend of January 23-24, at Stamford Bridge.
Should Chelsea beat Luton like we did at Wembley in the 1994 FA Cup semifinal, which was also the last time we’ve played against them after seeing each other quite frequently through the ‘80s and early ‘90s, we would then move on to the fifth round a couple weeks later, where we’d play midweek away (Feb 8-9) against the winners of Barnsley vs. Norwich City, two more Championship sides. To help with scheduling and planning amid a pandemic, both the fourth and fifth rounds were drawn today.
