A change of scenery for the young man

Juan Familia-Castillo, who had joined AZ Alkmaar on a season-long loan in the summer, has been recalled by Chelsea and has now joined up with ADO Den Haag in Netherlands on a six-month loan.

Despite making his Eredivisie debut this season from the bench, he didn’t play for the senior-team other than on that one occasion, and had been restricted to playing games for Jong AZ in the Dutch second-division. He made 6 appearances in the Eerste Divisie.

He will now link up with Den Haag — who sit in 16th position in the Eredivisie — in search of better opportunities, and hope to add to his solitary appearance in the Dutch first division. At Den Haag, the 20-year-old will compete with fellow loanee Lassana Faye for a starting role in his favored left back position.

“I want to show myself at the highest level and ADO Den Haag is a good club for that. Because I already know a lot of guys, I will certainly feel at home soon. I am an attacking player who likes to be on the ball and also holds his own in the duels.”

Castillo’s contract with Chelsea expires in 2022, and he will look to make a strong impression before a likely permanent departure in the summer.

Best of luck to the young man!
