While the week’s been all about the return of international football and Chelsea’s spectacular coup of securing German wunderkind Kai Havertz, the players remaining at Cobham have certainly not been idle. Ben Chilwell, who set off the signing spree last week, has been settling in nicely at Chelsea and you can see as much in his training shots from Chelsea TV.
Despite joining while still nursing a heel injury, Ben seems to be moving reasonably well and might not be too far off from participating with the rest of the group now. Progress is definitely being made on that front and it’s a welcome sight considering that the new campaign starts in just a little over a week.
We also see some good saves made by Willy Caballero and academy man-mountain Lucas Bergstrom, who is certainly one to keep an eye on. There are also some shots of the Chelsea Women team from a week which saw them not only deservedly lift the Community Shield but also make a huge signing of intent in form of Pernille Harder.
The training shots from the Chelsea academy are particularly interesting as they show us some faces from past transfer nightma- I mean windows. Davide Zappacosta, Tiemoué Bakayoko, and Danny Drinkwater, among other returnees, were in the mix and, with all due respect to them, work as a reminder of just how far Chelsea has come since that summer.
