1. MASON MOUNT (7.5)

Happy #MasonMountMonday, everybody! Frank Lampard’s favorite son dragged Chelsea back into this after the half-time break, with the reverse-spin on his long-range effort rooting the West Brom goalkeeper to the spot and kick-starting the Blues’ three-goal comeback. Hit across the ball, kids!

Everybody wondered what would happen to Mount’s minutes and appearances given all the new signings, but so far, he’s started every single match and given his performances (and his versatility), that looks likely to continue for the moment. Competition is of course fierce for spots in attack, but if there’s anyone from the Academy who will take that challenge head on, it’s young Money Ma$e.

2. CALLUM HUDSON-ODOI (7.4, sub)

From young Money we go to young ... Huddy?

Our new puppy’s named Hudson, often shortened to Huddy, and he also approves of Callum’s performance in this substitute appearance, which means that he’s played 135 of the last 180 minutes available to him. Keep it up!

3. KAI HAVERTZ (6.7)

Like Mount, Havertz has started all four games so far, and has steadily improved — both in terms of fitness and fit-ness with the team — even as he’s been shifted around between a couple different positions. His movement on the ball is quite mesmerizing to watch, the way he makes most everything look effortless. And his effort off the ball is very good as well, though perhaps not surprising given that he comes from the press-happy Bundesliga. He’s shown some very good early signs in linking up with Tammy Abraham and Reece James, as well as Hudson-Odoi in this match as evidenced by their lovely 1-2 for the latter’s goal, which reduced the deficit to just one.
