Frank Lampard has already confirmed that new goalkeeper Édouard Mendy won’t start this game, seeing as how he’s just arrived and is still probably just unpacking his bags. Pictures posted from today’s training do not show the big man either — and he shouldn’t be hard to miss at 6’6” with an even greater wingspan.

But this exercise is all about who you think should start, emphasis on you. Would you throw Mendy into the fray straight away? It sounds like he could play if needed (i.e. registered and tested), but we’re choosing to take it slow.

Lampard also confirmed that we’re taking it slow with Christian Pulisic and Hakim Ziyech, so neither will be available this weekend. We’re also being a bit cautious with Ben Chilwell, but Thiago Silva looks ready for proper action. We also get Andreas Christensen back, after the defender served his one-match suspension for the Liverpool red card in the midweek League Cup tie, which Chelsea won to the rousing tune of 6-0.

Choose wisely.
