Pedro sure loved to kick corner flags in celebration. And he did celebrate plenty. And score some ridiculous goals, with either one of his feet, his head (!), and even his heel. And run, sometimes aimlessly. And always give it his all. And win trophies like they’re going out of style.
We didn’t get the best version of Pedro. Only Barcelona did. But we got our version of Pedro, and he was still pretty great. A tiny little sparkplug, willing to put in the miles left, right, center, and sometimes even at wing-back.
But after five years, Pedro’s time at Stamford Bridge has ended. The 33-year-old made that official this morning, after Chelsea’s elimination form the Champions League last night. (That Pedro had to watch from home, recovering from a dislocated shoulder that he suffered in the last few minutes of his Chelsea career last weekend further underlines his commitment.)
“After five wonderful years my stage at Chelsea FC comes to an end. Thanks a lot to the club’s board, to the coaches and teammates I’ve had, and of course to the fans: thank you for the experience of being a member of your big family. I’ve been very happy here, you’ve made me feel like home.
“It’s been a pleasure and an honour to play for this club and win the Premier League, FA Cup and Europa League titles, as well as competing in one of the world’s best football leagues. I made the right choice, I take with me wonderful and unforgettable memories.
“I say farewell very pleased with this stage of my career, and I’m also very excited with the next to begin. Thanks and good luck for the future.”

Thanks for everything, Pedro, and best of luck wherever you may go next (AS Roma?).
