Chelsea touched down in Munich earlier today, ahead of tomorrow’s last match of the season, barring a miracle comeback from 3-0 down in the first leg of this Round of 16 Champions League matchup.
In a way, we have nothing to lose and everything to gain, which is a fairly unique situation for Chelsea. Usually we’re on the other side of that coin.
Given the team’s long injury and suspensions list, including Christian Pulisic, César Azpilicueta, Pedro, Jorginho, and Marcos Alonso, we’ve been seeing a few more fresh young faces in training this week.
And as confirmed by the official website, all five promoted Academy youngsters traveled, which does mean that we could see up to three more debuts in what’s already been a record season for number of Academy debuts (8). Lewis Bate, Henry Lawrence, and Dynel Simeu are all in line for their first senior appearance!
The 23-man squad, in full, is as follows. With a 12-man bench allowed by UEFA, all are set to be part of the matchday squad as well.
GOALKEEPER: Kepa Arrizabalaga, Wilfredo Caballero, Jamie Cumming
DEFENDERS: Antonio Rüdiger, Andreas Christensen, Kurt Zouma, Reece James, Fikayo Tomori, Emerson, Dynel Simeu, Ian Maatsen
MIDFIELDERS: N’Golo Kanté, Ross Barkley, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Mateo Kovačić, Lewis Bate, Henry Lawrence
ATTACKERS: Tammy Abraham, Olivier Giroud, Mason Mount, Callum Hudson-Odoi, Michy Batshuayi, Armando Broja
