The number one concern and argument against players signing the temporary contract extensions at the end of June was that they would be risking their future earnings potential with injuries and without the protection of a long-term contract.
Despite those risks, both Willian and Pedro signed up for an extra month and change on deadline day with Chelsea, putting to rest any misplaced doubts about their commitment to the club.
Alas, they are both ending the season injured, and while Willian’s case appears minor, Pedro’s case is anything but, with the 33-year-old suffering a very painful dislocated shoulder at the end of a very painful 2-1 loss to Arsenal in the very painful FA Cup final over a very painful weekend.
Pedro has now confirmed that he’s undergone successful surgery on his shoulder. Thankfully, that’s not so painful because of modern anesthetics and drugs. However, standard recovery time from this point is 2-3 months, though certain activities can be resumed much earlier than that.
“The surgery went well, I will be back soon. It was a pity not to win the FA Cup. Thank you all for your support”

The veteran winger had reportedly agreed some time ago to join AS Roma for next season, but nothing official has been announced. A dislocated shoulder is not exactly a good thing right now, though at least one local Twitter ITK claims that the move itself is not under threat.
Despite the injury, no problems for #Pedro to #Roma, the Spaniard will still join @ASRomaPress

Let’s hope so!
