PICTURES: Chelsea training at Stamford Bridge

Preparations continue for the first friendly and the season ahead

Ahead of tomorrow’s first preseason match, against Brighton & Hove Albion at the Amex Stadium, which will welcome up to 2500 local fans, Chelsea conducted Friday’s training at Stamford Bridge. Normally, this event probably would’ve been held in front of our own fans, but with the COVID-19 pandemic still going strong, that wasn’t to be the case today.

Fortunately, cameras were still allowed, so we have a few pictures to check out courtesy of Getty Images and the usual Chelsea photog, Darren Walsh.

A couple new faces can be spotted, who hadn’t featured in the last training pictures round-up, including Andreas Christensen and Ian Maatsen (no, not the injured Chilwell or just signed Thiago Silva). New first-team coach Anthony Barry can be spotted as well.

Meanwhile, the eight first-team players who had to go into quarantine last weekend remain there for the time being, but should be emerging pretty soon (provided they test negative), hopefully in time to get up to speed before the new season starts in just two weeks!
