It is the kind of news we have all been waiting for.
Transfer Oracle Fabrizio Romano says that after weeks of negotiations and months of rumors, we’re just “one step away” from finalizing the Kai Havertz transfer.
Kai Havertz to Chelsea, one step away and then... here we go! Total agreement to be reached on nest hours with Bayer Leverkusen. Last bid is going to be accepted. €80M + €20M add ons as final fee. Last details and paperworks time. #CFC #Havertz #Chelsea

When the Oracle speaks, all we can do is listen.
Chelsea have apparently realised that a ‘pandemic’ discount will not apply for the 21-year-old.
New bid submitted three days ago. Bayer Leverkusen told to Chelsea on last night... they’re going to accept. Same today morning with Havertz himself. Paperworks time is now on. ✍ #CFC

It was five days ago that Chelsea and Bayer were ‘only’ €10m apart in the terms for Havertz, with the Blues offering €85m for the player while Bayer sought at least €95m. But it turns out that we will be meeting Bayer’s initial €100m demands, paying €80m upfront and €20m as performance-related add-ons.
It is still a fair price to pay for someone who might be a generational talent. We have been missing opportunities to sign players like Havertz, prioritizing quantity over quality, but signing him is the biggest statement of intent yet this summer.
