Chelsea released the season review video today, “Frank Lampard: Coming Home”, which was billed as something special — “boxset” of “six parts!” ... of 11-16 minutes each — but of course turns out to be nothing more than your standard season review video, except broken up into small chunks for short attention spans, with narration from Lampard rather than a Chelsea TV announcer. Hopefully you weren’t expecting Sunderland ‘Til I Die, or even All Or Nothing (or whatever fluff the new Amazon Spurs thing will throw at us).
In any case, here are some fluffy (and familiar) quotes from Lampard from the series, which shows things we’ve already seen and says things we’ve already heard.
“To be able to sustain Champions League football next year was a huge thing for the club. It should give confidence now. Fourth was an achievement this year but I don’t want to be saying that next year.
“If we keep moving forward, we want to be saying, ‘how do we close the gap going forward?’ and that’s now our challenge.
“Personally, I have a real desire to never settle on where we are today. I always want more. I don’t want to set huge markers on we are going to be, that would be the wrong approach.
“But let’s work daily to improve, close the gap above us and find more consistency in ourselves. Lots of things this year give us reason to believe. I have a very clear idea about where I see a need for improvement.”

Saying all the right things, as usual.
The first episode of the series is also up on the club’s mostly neglected YouTube channel. If you’re bored, the other episodes are all on the Fifth Stand app, which sadly isn’t going away anytime soon.
