Teenage goalkeeper Nicolas Tié has left Chelsea Football Club, signing with Portuguese top division club Vitória de Guimarães.
Vitória confirmed the transfer a couple days ago, having signed the 19-year-old to a five-year deal until 2025.
Tié, who hails from Lille, France but has represented Côte d’Ivoire at the (youth) international level, joined Chelsea in 2017, after agreeing a pre-contract at a much earlier age (ed.note: and thus possibly one of the deals that got Chelsea a transfer ban!). But in the three years since, he’s only managed 18 appearances for the various youth teams, including just 4 total this season, as he’s dealt with a couple injuries ... not to mention plenty of others in front of him in the pecking order.
The fee that Chelsea will get for his transfer is not likely to be much, but the Blues do retain 45% of the youngster’s economics rights, and should thus, could receive a proportionate sell-on in the future.
All the best for your future endeavors, Nicolas Tié!
