LEAKED: Chelsea 2020-21 away kit, which is also blue?

Herringbone pattern seems to be the theme

Chelsea’s 2020-21 away kit has now leaked thanks to Footy Headlines.

The away kit features a bright, pale blue shade, apparently named as “cobalt tint” under Nike’s color coding. Navy blue offers some contrast on the color, sleeve cuffs, and piping down the side, which echoes similar features on the home shirt.

It’s another minimalistic aesthetic from Nike, including a color-matched (to the accent color) monochrome badge, which is always a classy look. Nike also changes the shirt’s collar to a v-neck from the crewneck of the home shirt.

The body color echoes the Umbro away kit of 2005-06.

While the home kit featured a subtle herringbone pattern (which on the vapor/authentic versions were made by varying the texture of the material), the away kit features a herringbone pattern in a more prominent manner, including a different color on every fifth line, which creates added visual interest.

Three UK’s logo features front and center again. It still looks like a furry mustache, however with time and a bit of Stockholm syndrome, we may yet get used to it and learn to not hate it.

Chelsea’s next away match is against Crystal Palace on July 7th, and we could see this kit make its debut then, as the new home kit would clash with Crystal Palace’s home kit and last year’s range features Yokohama as our sponsor.

The new home kit debuted to a disastrous display against West Ham on Wednesday. Here’s hoping for better a better showing from Chelsea if and when the the away kit is worn the first time.
