Chelsea to receive bonus as Eden Hazard’s Real Madrid win La Liga title — report

Thanks, Eden!

Quarantine beard and shaggy hair were nowhere to be seen last night as a trim and fresh Eden Hazard started on the left wing in Real Madrid’s 2-1 win over Villarreal, which confirmed the Galácticos as Champions of Spain for the first time in three years and just the second time since 2012.

It’s the fourth league title of Eden’s career, following the one with Lille in the two with Chelsea. Though it’s not been a stellar (first) season in Spain for Hazard by any stretch of the imagination for — in fact, comfortably his worst season as a professional with just 1 goal in 21 appearances in all competitions, hampered by multiple injuries and the occasional hamburger — it ends on a good note for the 29-year-old. (Real are still alive in the Champions League as well, which will resume next month.)

Of course we are quite happy for Eden to win a title with his boyhood dream-club, but we’re even happier that said title will reportedly net Chelsea a decent bonus as well, part of the easily attainable bonus package that was part of Hazard’s €100m transfer last summer.

While the exact details aren’t known, and will probably never be known, the bonus is said to be around €15m.

Thanks, Eddie!

And yes, you, too, T-BO.
