Hakim the Dream Ziyech, the Wizard of AMS and All Other Future Nicknames joined his first ever Chelsea first-team training session on Thursday, a few days after making his official landing in the SW6 and a couple days after being spotted at Stamford Bridge, supporting his new teammates in the crucial 1-0 win over Norwich City. He had been training on his own the last few days.
With two games to go, Chelsea are in a good position to finish in the top four, maybe even third, which would see us and Hakim go on yet another Champions League adventure next season.
Ziyech won’t be able to actually participate in official games until the start of next season — in either the Premier League or the Champions League — but it’s good to see him start acclimating to his new team, his new teammates, and his new coaches already. Mid-July would normally be the time we begin pre-season preparations, though the start of the 2020-21 season has been pushed back by at least a month, to mid-September. Still, with Ziyech off since March due to the early cancelation of the Eredivisie, he will need some extra work compared to others to get back to match fitness.
P.S.: Check out his first interview with Chelsea TV, which was graciously released on YouTube as well, and not just that annoying Fifth Stand App nonsense.
