Timo Werner’s RB Leipzig career has come to an end today as the Bundesliga completed their last round of matches in the 2019-20 season. Bayern Munich had already confirmed their eighth (8th!) title in a row, but there were still positions to play for further below, with three teams vying for the last two Champions League places, including Werner’s.
Fortunately for them, Turbo Timo decided to finish his Leipzig career in style.
First, Werner gave RB the lead in 28th minute with a well timed run and then a good 1-v-1 finish against goalkeeper Tomáš Koubek. It was his 94th goal for the club, becoming their all-time top goalscorer.

RB Leipzig allowed Augsburg to equalize in the 72nd minute, but Turbo Timo stepped up once again with a perfectly timed run and far post finish in the 80th minute which was called offside at first by the linesman but that decision was reversed by VAR.
What a fairy-tale ending for Werner’s Leipzig career, scoring with his final touch for Leipzig.
Thanks, VAR!
Werner leaves the team with 95 goals to his name, and 40 assists to boot.
On top of that, Werner finishes the season with 28 Bundesliga goals, more than any German player in 38 years!
Welcome aboard, Timo!
Timo Werner scored 28 Bundesliga goals this season, the last German player to net more in a single campaign was 39 years ago (Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, 29, 1980-81).
