PICTURES: Chelsea begin contact training in Phase Two of Project Restart

Touching and tackling, oh my!

The world’s attention is once again, and rightly so, on more important, urgent, significant matters, but there’s also football happening, so let’s check in with the boys.

Monday was in fact a big day down at Cobham as well, as Chelsea players participated in the first contact training session of Project Restart. After a couple weeks of mostly fitness and individual training exercises, the all the lads save for N’Golo Kanté were back to something much more resembling normal training, with touching and close contact, and even a bit of tackling! Oh my!

With three weeks to go until the first game of the rest of the season, Chelsea will need to start stepping up training levels to close to preseason levels. After over two months off, we have to treat these session as if they were preseason — not just for the rest of 2019-20, but for next season as well since not much of a break is expected after nine remaining games, plus FA Cup and Champions League matches are played out.
