Last month, Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi was arrested “on suspicion of rape” early on a Sunday morning following reports of an “unwell woman” at his apartment. After being kept in custody for a day as investigators combed through his place, he was released on bail with a June date scheduled for a hearing.
Today, news comes that Metropolitan Police have ended their investigation without any further actions taken. Hudson-Odoi himself broke the news on social media, with Police later confirming that the 19-year-old has been cleared.
Met Police confirmation: “A man arrested on Sunday, 17 May following an allegation of rape... has been released with no further action.

“The incident is therefore no longer being investigated by police.” #CFC
We can only hope that Police have indeed done their job properly, which sadly isn’t always the case, and that Hudson-Odoi has learned the lessons he needed to learn. With details scant and private, anything beyond that is pure and baseless speculation.
In his statement, Callum has vowed to become a better role model in the future.
“At a time when there are bigger things happening in the world right now, you may also be aware of the serious allegations that were made against me. I have stayed silent and assisted the police fully throughout their enquiries, as I knew the day would soon come when my name would be cleared. Following a full and thorough investigation, the police have now confirmed they will take no further action.
“I would like to use this platform to thank everyone who has stood by my side and supported me during this difficult period. I have learned that being a footballer and playing for one of the best clubs in the world comes with great responsibility, and going forward I will try and use my platform as a Chelsea player to be the best role model that I can be.”

Hudson-Odoi had been back in training with Chelsea, although he’s missed the last few days with an unspecified minor knock and is not expected to be fully fit for next weekend’s restart against Aston Villa.
Callum Hudson-Odoi is unlikely to start for #CFC at #AVFC next week. He picked up a minor injury and missed in-house game last week and friendly v Reading. Was told on Thursday he is due back in training in next day or two. Assured absence had nothing to do with legal issues.
