Premier League coronavirus meeting pushed back after UK government delay lockdown briefing

Last Friday’s meeting of Premier League powers didn’t result in anything new as far as the coronavirus response and restart plans were concerned, at least not officially, but the four-hour meeting did show that there is a need and more pertinently, a desire for further discussion.

The assumption is that more discussion will help us arrive at a (more) workable solution to this crisis, whether that involves football in June, in September, or beyond — though maybe that assumption is a bit naïve on my part.

In any case, after the last meeting, the league scheduled an extra meeting for this upcoming Friday, but that has now been pushed back (or perhaps entirely canceled) after the UK government decided to delay their latest briefing regarding lockdown measures to Sunday.

The Premier League already has their regularly scheduled meeting set for Friday next week, though as mentioned before, more talks probably won’t hurt. There are still many issues left to resolve, or if nothing else, further consultations to be had with players, coaches, and various other stakeholders and people expected to be involved if and when we restart training and playing.
