Chelsea were due to play Leicester City in the FA Cup quarterfinals about two months ago, but obviously that all got delayed thanks to the pandemic and the subsequent lockdown. But football is slowly coming back, and following the Premier League’s restart and schedule announcement yesterday, the FA have followed suit in setting provisional dates for the restart of the FA Cup.
The quarterfinals are now set to take place June 27-28, with the semifinals set for mid-July (July 18-19) and the final for early August (August 1). These dates are subject to change at this point, just like the Premier League’s schedule, should the health situation suddenly worsen again.
Here’s a reminder of the quarterfinal draw, which Chelsea reached by beating Liverpool, 2-0.
Sheffield United vs. Arsenal
Newcastle United vs. Manchester CityTottenham Hotspur OR (LOL!) Norwich City vs. Derby County OR Manchester United
Leicester City vs. CHELSEA
The other competition that Chelsea were still involved in was the Champions League — although just barely after a 3-0 loss to Bayern Munich in the first leg of the Round of 16 — and that is tentatively scheduled to come back in August. Plenty of action ahead!
