PICTURES: Day 2 of Chelsea small group training

Practicing and practicing social distancing

Day two of small-group training is the books; in fact Chelsea will soon take to the training pitch at Cobham for Day 3. Here are just a few pictures from Day 2, and mostly concentrating on just a couple of the training groups — including the likes of Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Mateo Kovačić, and Pedro. The novelty of this is wearing off pretty quickly, judging by the coverage.

But, by all accounts, all but two of the players participated on Wednesday. N’Golo Kanté opted to stay home for the foreseeable future — with the full blessing of the manager and the club — due to health concerns over the coronavirus, while Callum Hudson-Odoi was held out due to some other illness. Reports assure that CHO’s illness is not COVID-19, but in this day and age, it’s certainly better to be safe than sorry. So he’s staying home for now as well.
