We do not even know when the 2020-21 season will start, thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic delaying things indefinitely, but we do know once it does, we will have at least one thing to look forward to. Ajax’s Hakim Ziyech will move to Stamford Bridge as soon as the next transfer window opens.
And we are not alone in our anticipation.
Mason Mount is just as excited by the prospect of Ziyech in a Chelsea shirt, especially after seeing him up close and personal while on loan at Vitesse a couple seasons ago.
“So two years ago I was in Holland on loan so I knew a bit about him then and obviously how good of a player he is.
“So obviously it’s another amazing, world-class player joining the club. So yeah buzzing to work with him, train with him and hopefully play with him.”
Mount’s form may not have been too consistent this season, but he was just getting back into it with a great showing in the 4-0 win over Everton before the pandemic-enforced suspension of the season.
A proven player in his prime such as Ziyech will elevate the play of those around him, and that can only be a good thing for Mason and for all the other Chelsea youngsters. At least we hope so!
