It’s time for the monthly Tammy Abraham contract update.
And the update is: still no new contract.
That’s according to the Mirror, so that it for you think that’s worth — which is probably little more than a quota-filling exercise to keep the same story churning and generating some clicks.
Abraham’s contract “saga” has been stuck in neutral almost since the initial rumblings of a new contract appeared in August.
- Late August: “set to offer”
- Mid-September: “open talks”
- Mid-October: “close to agreement”
- Mid-December: “no closer”
- Late December: “soon”
- early February: “all parties involved expect”
- early March: ...
With still a little over two years left on his current, there remains almost zero reason to panic, but that wouldn’t make for very good headlines.
Most agree that Tammy’s looking for parity with some of Chelsea’s highest earners (usually put forth at Hudson-Odoi, who signed his big money deal last year), and it’s unlikely that Chelsea would disagree with him on that front.
So, it’s surely just a matter of time. Nothing ever moves fast in these sorts of things.
In the meantime, Abraham needs to get healthy and get back to his goalscoring ways of earlier this season.
