He may have only played in half of Chelsea’s league matches in February (2 of 4), but Marcos Alonso made a big enough impact to earn a nomination for the Premier League Player of the Month award.
Deployed back in his old Conte-ian left wing-back role after Lampard’s switch to a 3-4-3 formation, Alonso has scored three times in the two opportunities he got to feature on the pitch, including the ultimate winner against against Tottenham at Stamford Bridge, and both goals in Chelsea’s 2-2 draw with Bournemouth at Dean Court. In fact, he’s scored Chelsea’s last three goals in the league, earning us four points in the process!
