Christian Pulisic has played just 66 minutes of football for Chelsea since the turn of the year — all on New Year’s Day — missing our last eleven games in all competitions with a pesky groin strain (adductor, to be specific).
But if his update on Instagram is to be believed, he’s “super close” to returning.
“Very thankful for your support. Working so hard and super close to a return,” he wrote in response to a post shilling for Chipotle, which surely no professional footballer actually eats as part of their training diet are you nuts??!
But hey, we all gotta eat, and make some endorsement bucks, too.
In his latest update, Frank Lampard sounded far less positive on the 21-year-old winger, who’s still Chelsea’s (joint-)second-leading goalscorer in the Premier League despite missing the last two months and also spending a non-insignificant amount of time on the bench earlier this season. Lampard himself had a similar injury during his playing days, and it was one of the very few times when he was forced to miss extended time during a very long and durable career.
Hopefully Pulisic will be proven correct in this case.
