LIVE BLOG

90+4min: FULL TIME. Chelsea lose the first leg.

90min: Goretzka, just on, almost scores from a Bayern corner. Chelsea scramble it away. 4 minutes added on.

88min: Mount still battling, and gets in a toe-poke towards goal. Neuer down to save easily.

82min: At the other end, Alonso puts an army into the face of Lewandowski and gets a yellow. VAR then swings into action and calls Alonso for violent conduct, which is a hilariously soft call. Alonso sent off with a straight red.

81min: Chelsea are 3-v-3 suddenly, with Abraham on the ball. He decides to go at it alone, but can’t beat Boateng. Abraham wants a penalty, but it looked like a clean tackle. Replays don’t disagree.

79min: Pedro bursts through on the right and puts in a tremendous ball across the face of goal. Neither Abraham nor Willian there to tap it in. Kovačić is then taken out at the top of the box, but no call.

78min: Willian almost breaks through, but Bayern recover well. It’s been all too easy for them tonight.

75min: But Bayern counter and make it three. Chelsea overcommit on the right, James, Christensen, Mount, Jorginho all diving in and losing out. Davies in 2-v-1 against Rüdiger with Lewandowski. Davies picks the right pass and Lewy has a tap-in. 0-3, Bayern.

74min: Pedro on for Azpilicueta as Lampard looks for attacking options. Move almost immediately pays off as Chelsea push forward. Willian puts in a great ball from the right, which just eludes a couple outstretched legs.

72min: Thiago, already on a yellow, slides through Abraham to win the ball, no card and not even a foul!

71min: Willian wins a corner after good interplay with James. Willian takes the corner as well, but Christensen can’t win the header at the far post and Chelsea have to reset. Bayern happy to let Chelsea pass it around at the moment.

69min: Mount pounces on a square ball from Kimmich and tries to catch Neuer off his line, but the shot is off target.

68min: Chelsea defense all at sea as Müller toys with Rüdiger. Fortunately, Coutinho fluffs his chance and Chelsea can scramble clear for a goal kick.

67min: Teasing cross from Azpi is cleared. Abraham is offside on the follow-up cross from Rüdiger.

65min: Coutinho on for Coman.

64min: Coman down injured after tweaking his hamstring on a sprint.

63min: Gnabry twists and turns at the top of the box, but his eventual shot is blocked by James for a corner. Kimmich takes, Chelsea can’t clear and Bayern pounce on the loose ball, but Thiago’s shot is blocked by Christensen’s (arm?). VAR quiet. Looked quite inadvertent.

61min: Double change for Chelsea, with Abraham and Willian on for Giroud and Barkley.

59min: From a throw, Müller turns Kovačić with ease and finds Gnabry, on a hat-trick, but his shot is hammered over the bar.

57min: Bayern break behind again, but this time Coman’s cross is behind Lewandowski and James can clear. Kimmich given a yellow at some point in the last few minutes for (another) foul on Jorginho.

56min: Chelsea push on the left, with Barkley and Mount combining well. But Barkley’s cutback is behind everyone, with all three runners pushing to the goal and none hanging back. Bayern counter through Davies’ ridiculous pace, but Chelsea close well on Lewandowski and Caballero can gather.

54min: Goal. Gnabry. Again. Neuer goes long, Azpilicueta loses the header to Lewandowski, Christensen is beaten by Gnabry, who places it with perfection just inside the far post, leaving Caballero with no chance. Easy as you like. 0-2, Bayern.

51min: Goal. Gnabry. Bayern win the ball in midfield and play up. Azpilicueta slips, allowing Gnabry to play a great reverse ball for Lewandowski. He cuts the ball back instead of shooting and Gnabry’s there to finish with aplomb. 0-1, Bayern.

49min: Jorginho in the book for complaining about a foul on Kovačić by Kimmich. No card for Kimmich. LOL.

48min: Chelsea play out through Kovačić and Jorginho, who plays over the top to Mount. He looks to be in, but Davies again recovers thanks to his tremendous pace. Mount still gets a shot away, but Neuer saves, and he does on the Barkley follow up as well.

46min: No changes for either side at the half. Chelsea get us back underway. An early foray forward ends with James out of position, but Christensen’s across quickly to cover the space as Bayern look to counter into it.

HALF-TIME: Still time for a long ball towards Mount, with Neuer out quickly to catch, before the referee’s whistle goes. Chelsea hanging in, and even threatening a few times. Bayern have controlled proceedings, and have even hit the woodwork, but no breakthrough yet!

45+1min: James defends well against Gnabry, but Bayern have a corner, which Caballero fists away. Chelsea try to counter through Barkley, who’s hacked down by Thiago. Yellow for the Bayern midfielder.

44min: Chelsea play through the midfield magnificently and Kovačić bursts through the lines, playing in Alonso on the left. He sits down Pavard with a shot fake, but Neuer makes a good save on the actual shot. James gathers the ball and wins a corner, which Mount takes. Alonso gets a head to it, but it goes wide of the far post.

42min: Alonso called for a foul despite winning the ball cleanly from Coman. But Coman falls over and gets the call. Kimmich swings the ball in from the right, Azpilicueta wins the first header and Caballero catches the second ball.

40min: Lewandowski thinks he’s won a corner as his cross is well wide, but the referee disagrees. No replay shown, but Chelsea can’t make it count either way, and eventually give the ball away with a long kick.

39min: Pavard trips Mount in a good crossing position for Chelsea. James swings it in towards Giroud with Bayern keeping a very high line, but Giroud can’t quite get to it and it bounces through for a goal kick.

37min: Chelsea work the ball around, then find James on the right flank. He plays in to Barkley, but his touch is lax and Bayern swarm.

35min: Bayern push quickly up the other end, Chelsea parting like a blue sea, but Müller’s cheeky backwards header hits the crossbar, with Caballero just watching.

34min: Chelsea press and Jorginho pounces on a poor kick from Neuer, and crosses for Mount, who seems to get taken out — no call — Kovačić retains the ball and finds Mount with a reverse ball, but his cross is just out of the reach of Giroud’s boot.

33min: Alonso, for once, defends 1-v-1 against Coman quite well. Chelsea go long from eh goal kick and win the second ball. Jorginho finds Barkley, but he gets a bit unlucky as the ball bounces up from a defender’s touch right onto his arm.

31min: Kimmich sticks out a hand to stop a counter, and for some reason does not get a yellow for it.

29min: A Müller thunderbolt from the top of the box flies just wide of the far post.

28min: Chelsea give the ball away from a throw-in, and Müller plays in Lewandowski. Caballero with another big save, this time with his legs. Bayern have a corner, but Caballero’s down for a bit of treatment. Looks okay to continue. Bayern’s corner is cleared by a combination of Alonso and Barkley.

26min: Chelsea make a mess of playing out and Bayern push into the area. Caballero down quickly to pounce on the ball ahead of Lewandowski.

25min: Bayern steam up the left flank, playing through Chelsea easily with a series of 1-2s, before Christensen is able to stop the cross for a throw. That was way too easy.

24min: Giroud wins the ball and plays in Barkley, but his cross-shot from the left is too far ahead of Mount and too wide of the far post.

23min: Chelsea try to play out from the back, but Alonso gives the ball away. Bayern pull it back after the initial cross is headed clear.

22min: Rüdiger cuts out a pass for Gnabry and trundles forward on an amusing counter attempt, until losing the ball and giving Bayern to do the same. Fortunately, Chelsea recover to stop the initial threat.

20min: Chelsea maintain possession for a bit, before Kovacic switches wide to James. His cross is good, and Alaba has to stretch to deflect it for a corner. Mount takes, Giroud wins the header, but can’t generate much power and it’s an easy catch for Neuer.

18min: Chelsea win the ball in midfield and play through to Mount, but Davies catches up to him and is able to shield the ball out. Mount needed to be a bit stronger, smarter there.

16min: Long ball from Bayern finds Lewandowski over the top. Caballero out quickly to close the angle and make the save. Corner to Bayern, Gnabry wins the near post flick, but fortunately no one arrives at the far post.

15min: Jorginho wins the ball and plays back to Rüdiger, who goes long towards Mount. He wins the ball but Chelsea can’t keep it. Bayern on the front foot.

11min: Coman with a great 1-2 with Müller, completely strands Rüdiger. Coman’s in with a great shooting chance, but he kicks the turf a bit in the process and the ball only hits side-netting. Alarm bells.

10min: Jorginho caught upfield and Bayern break, but Pavard’s cross is bad and Chelsea survive. Caballero goes long to Giroud again, who wins the header again, but puts his arm into Boateng’s face and the referee calls a foul.

9min: Giroud flicks on a long goal kick, finding Mount breaking beyond the defenders. He goes at it alone, trying to lose his man, but the shot is weak and wide.

7min: Azpilicueta long throw causes some concern for Bayern, but Mount’s snapshot from the top of the box flies well over.

6min: After a period of Bayern possession, Chelsea go long to Giroud, who wins a foul from Boateng at midfield. Chelsea pass it around for a bit, then find Alonso marauding up the left. He goes to Barkley, but his cross is blocked for a throw. Chelsea retain possession.

3min: Mount catches Davies with his studs for the game’s first foul. No card.

2min: Kovačić this time gives the ball away and Bayern attack down the right. Chelsea cut the pass out but can’t counter and Bayern come again. Early pressure from the visitors.

1min: Kovačić goes on an early run through the middle, but the pass out wide to Alonso is blocked. Bayern turn defense into attack and Müller takes aim from 20 yards. Easy save for Caballero.

KICK-OFF: The chaaaaampions blares out, the big tifo doesn’t quite come off, but we’re all set to go. Bayern, in all red, get us underway.
