Chelsea vs. Bayern Munich, Champions League: Preferred lineup

Don’t mess with success seems to be the thinking for most of the WAGNH community, who have been voting for the preferred starting lineup for tonight’s massive Champions League Round of 16 first leg showdown at Stamford Bridge against Bayern Munich.

After the 3-4-3’s success against Spurs, over three-quarters of the respondents chose it as their preferred formation once again. It should be noted that every time Lampard switched to the Conte-esque three-man setup, we only got one good performance out of it. Let’s hope that changes today, should he opt to keep the setup.

In goal, it’s a 60-40 split in favor of Kepa, even if Willy Caballero seems to be fully entrenched as the first-choice goalkeeper now, for better or worse.

There are no surprises in the rest of the lineup, with the same back three, same wing-back pairing, same midfield pivot, and two of the three same starters in attack as in Saturday’s 2-1 win. The only difference is Willian taking Ross Barkley’s spot as one of the No.10s behind Giroud.

Barkley’s 33% is in fact the highest vote for any non-starter, with Tammy Abraham (30%), Fikayo Tomori (24%), and Kurt Zouma (14%) also breaking into double digits.

3-4-3 (78%):
Arrizabalaga (59%) | Rüdiger (90%), Christensen (82%), Azpilicueta (94%) | Alonso (78%), Jorginho (98%), Kovačić (99%), James (94%) | Willian (80%), Giroud (74%), Mount (94%)
