Chelsea will be without three key players against Bayern Munich for tomorrow night’s Champions League Round of 16 first leg at Stamford Bridge, with N’Golo Kante, Christian Pulisic, and Callum Hudson-Odoi all missing training on Monday morning.
Chelsea head coach Frank Lampard had been hopeful to have at least Hudson-Odoi back, but he’s now confirmed that won’t be happening until the weekend, at the earliest. Meanwhile, there remains no concrete timeframe for Pulisic’s return, and Kante likely won’t be back for several more weeks either.
In slightly better news, Pedro is available after a minor knock kept him out of contention this weekend — as Lampard went with a 3-4-3, to great effect, with dual-No.10s instead of wingers — and Ruben Loftus-Cheek continues to improve his fitness levels as he looks for his first appearance since last May. Tammy Abraham and Andreas Christensen both played on Saturday despite their injury concerns, and should be good to go in this one as well.
Having rotated the lineup on Saturday, including the entire front three, Lampard has set the team up about as well as probably possible given all the injury issues.
