Olivier Giroud’s Chelsea renaissance might not be enough for Didier Deschamps to secure him a regular spot in the French national team for years to come. But he might have convinced some former suitors of his that he is aging like wine, maintaining an enviable goalscoring form.
According to a report from La Gazzetta dello Sport, AC Milan still have Giroud in mind. They were likely not paying much attention to the Frenchman beforehand, as Zlatan Ibrahimovic is also proving himself as a valuable asset despite being much closer to the end of his career at this point in time. But with the Swedish striker out of contention for a month after an injury picked up during training, his Chelsea counterpart is once again on their menu.
But they know taking Giroud will not be an easy task. They would likely be able to offer him regular playing time, as Zlatan is still top dog in San Siro. And the French striker is enjoying his time at Stamford Bridge, getting plenty of chances over the last few weeks.
So while Giroud might still be a name that evokes good feelings amidst Milan staff, theory is often easier than practice.
