Juan Musso was last linked to Chelsea back in March, back when the club was scouting names to take over as the Blues’ new first-choice goalkeeper. One would believe that with the arrival of Edouard Mendy, Chelsea are not looking to sign another GK anytime soon, but according to a report from Mundo Udinese, that belief could be misplaced.
The Italy-based outlet claims that Musso, who plays for Serie A side Udinese, is attracting interest from the likes of Chelsea, Inter Milan and PSG with his asking price set at €30m.
Musso has been one of Serie A’s best GKs since his move to the league back in the summer of 2018 from Racing Club. He has kept 3 clean sheets this season, even as Udinese sit in 10th position after conceding just 14 goals in 11 games this season. (He was profiled back in May, as part of ExpectedChelsea’s analytics-based scouting report, so you can take a look at that here).
While it’s unlikely that Musso is being looked at as a first-choice keeper by the club, he could very well be brought in to compete with Edouard Mendy, with Kepa Arrizabalaga set to depart sooner rather than later and Willy Caballero turning 40 next year.
