Chelsea 4-1 Sheffield United, Player Ratings: The Wizard, The Monster, and Chilly B

Community player ratings from Chelsea’s fourth win on the bounce

1. HAKIM ZIYECH (9.4)

Two Man of the Match awards in the last three for The Wizard, who was once again at the heart of everything good going forward from Chelsea, after a slightly subdued midweek outing against Rennes. Those left-footed curling balls from the right flank are already hallmarks of this Chelsea team, and we’re only four starts into Ziyech’s Chelsea career. (And fortunately there’s a lot more to Ziyech’s game than just those passes, which opponents will undoubtedly adjust to in due time.)

2. THIAGO SILVA (8.3)

With The Wizard up front and The Monster at the back, Chelsea look unstoppable at the moment. And even though the defense conceded a goal with Silva on the pitch for the first time since the League Cup match against Tottenham Hotspur, we never really looked like losing this one. And that sort of confidence cannot be bought or created overnight. It has to be earned and built, and we’re earning and building it one minute at a time.

3. BEN CHILWELL (8.1)

Chilwell already has half as many goals in his Chelsea career (10 appearances) than he did in his time at Leicester City (123 appearances). Not that he should be judged by goals scored alone — we’ve already been there with left backs! — but it underlines just how quickly Chilly B has settled into the team. When he signed, he made sure to point out just how well Lampard’s system suited him. Of course, most players say things along those lines upon arrival, but in his case, it’s been a seamless and happy and successful transition. Now, we have to keep it going.
