Once highly promising Chelsea midfielder Marco van Ginkel has not seen the pitch in a first-team capacity since May 2018, when he was on his second loan stint with PSV. The reason for the long absence is the latest in a series of devastating knee problems, from which he is still recovering. But he’s not lost hope that he can still make it in the world of football.
To further his recovery and perhaps start one of the biggest comeback stories in the history of the sport (or so we hope!), Van Ginkel might be able use the help of a familiar old acquaintance. According to a report from Dutch newspaper Eindhovens Dagblad, PSV Eindhoven are doing what they can to bring MvG back for a third spell with the club.

The Dutch transfer window runs for an extra day compared to most of the rest of Europe, so PSV have until Tuesday to wrap up the formalities. The details of a potential deal are unknown, but it would likely involve a loan seeing as how MvG signed a one-year extension with Chelsea not that long ago.
Van Ginkel helped PSV to two Eredivisie titles over the course of three seasons, in the latter case as captain, even. PSV have not won the title since.
