AC Milan have been rumored to be interested in Antonio Rüdiger, but the Rossoneri have been cautious in their approach due to the German international’s high wages.
According to Gianluca Di Marzio however, Milan are facing difficulties in acquiring their primary centre back target in Schalke’s Ozan Kabak, and have therefore, initiated contact with Rüdiger’s camp.
Milan’s bid for Kabak is reportedly €12m plus €3m in add-ons, which is significantly less than what Schalke want.
As expected, Milan will only attempt to sign Rüdiger on loan, with the Serie A club definitely unable to meet Chelsea’s expected asking price for the 27-year-old. Chelsea will likely sign the player to a contract extension to protect his value for next summer’s transfer window.
AC Milan does represent a better option for Chelsea to offload Rüdiger to, than rivals Tottenham Hotspur, but with so little time left before the transfer window closes, this deal will go down right to the wire.
