According to a report from the Daily Mail, more clubs are joining the chase for young Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher, who is currently on loan at Charlton Athletic. After recent interest from Burnley, Championship outfits West Brom and Swansea City have joined the list of the 19-year-old's admirers.
Gallagher’s current club are not in the best of place at the moment. They have only one win in their last 13 Championship matches, having recently lost 2-1 to Derby County to fall to 19th place in the table. Perhaps not coincidentally, Gallagher hasn't scored since November 23, in a 2-2 draw against Cardiff.
A change of scenery could work wonders for Gallagher, and that is what both West Bromwich and Swansea are trying to offer. The former are also currently in a tight battle with Leeds United for top spot in the Championship, level on 52 points and behind only on goal difference (+22 versus +20). Meanwhile Swansea are trying to get into the promotion playoff zone, sitting on 38 points and only two points behind 6th place Millwall.
There could still be a bigger contender for Gallagher, in Premier League club Burnley. But for that to happen, they would need to send Chelsea midfielder Danny Drinkwater back to Stamford Bridge this winter, as they cannot have more than one Premier League loanee from the same club in their squad.
