Good news on Reece James after initial injury scans — report

Major problem averted?

Reece James, who's been Chelsea's Man of the Match for three straight games, has reportedly avoided any "serious" damage after being forced off 15 minutes from time in Saturday's match with a lower leg injury.

According to reports, including an “exclusive” from talkSport, initial scans conducted by the club revealed no structural damage, just some bruising from the impact of the collision with Newcastle center back Ciaran Clark.

James had missed the first few weeks of the season with an ankle problem and subsequent surgery, but he's become increasingly involved and important to the team despite his young age (even by Chelsea youth revolution standards). He recently celebrated his 20th birthday and put pen to paper on a new long-term contract just last week.

While I'd guess he still won't be involved in tomorrow's game, as a precaution if nothing else, hopefully he won't miss much time at all. We need him!
