As per reports from before the match, Christian Pulisic is among the five players expected to be allowed to return to their respective clubs after the USA’s 3-0 loss to Mexico last night.
Pulisic, as well as Bundesliga trio John Brooks (Wolfsburg), Alfredo Morales (Düsseldorf), and Zack Steffen (also Düsseldorf), and NYCFC goalkeeper Sean Johnson will reportedly not partake in the friendly against Uruguay in order to not hinder their chances at club level.
With that match scheduled for Tuesday evening in St. Louis, MO, Pulisic would not arrive back in England until late Wednesday at the earliest, giving him barely two days to get ready for the away game against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday.
It’s a situation we’ve seen many times over the years from Chelsea’s Brazilian internationals, so it’s nice to see Pulisic thinking ahead and the USA being accommodating in this regard (especially as the match is just a friendly). The season truly begins next weekend, and we’re going to need everybody in top shape.
