After the disappointing midweek result, Chelsea will want to pick themselves up and build on last weekend’s good result against Wolves. In our way, a strong Liverpool side also looking for a response to a midweek loss. Can Chelsea do one better than in the Super Cup?
THE PEOPLE’S CHOICE
The WAGNH community is sticking to the recent trend of the 3-4-2-1 formation, preferring it clearly over the previously used 4-3-3 (23%) and 4-2-3-1 (16%). In fact, that is the closest race in the entire vote, with the line-up choices largely all clear-cut. Pedro (27%) and Barkley (22%) miss out by wide margins after disappointing performances midweek against Valencia. Kanté receives 46% despite his injury. None of the other players received more than 10% otherwise. (Ed.note: and no hint of the Azpilicueta to right center-back and Pedro as wing-back option, which we saw at the end of the last game.)
3-4-3 (58%)
Arrizabalaga (97%) | Tomori (93%), Christensen (97%), Zouma (65%) | Alonso (92%), Kovačić (80%), Jorginho (90%), Azpilicueta (94%) | Pulisic (77%), Abraham (89%), Willian (64%)
MY PREFERRED LINEUP
My lineup is a bit of a hopeful one, with both Emerson and Mount getting rushed back to help out in this difficult fixture, and Lampard switching back to a 4-3-3 that also worked well against Liverpool in the Super Cup.
Otherwise, I’m in total agreement with the community, if you disregard the formation. I do think that Lampard will seriously consider starting Olivier Giroud and Ross Barkley instead of Abraham and Mount, respectively.
4-3-3
Arrizabalaga | Emerson, Christensen, Tomori, Azpilicueta | Kovačić, Jorginho, Mount | Pulisic, Abraham, Willian
COME ON, YOU BLUES!!!
