Budding superstar and Chelsea Academy crown jewel Callum Hudson-Odoi has signed a new long-term contract with the club, ending over six seven eight nine months of fairly intense speculation — I first pre-wrote this post over 100 days ago! — that he would leave us for the supposedly greener grass of Bayern Munich. Human gestation doesn’t take this long!
But today, the joyous news has come down at long last from the Blues. The new five-year deal with a six-figure weekly salary now has the 18-year-old’s signature on it as well! Chalk another one up to the Lampard Effect! This reference/meme is now outdated.
A new five-year deal for @Calteck10!

Hudson-Odoi played a big role in the second half of the last season before an Achilles rupture cruelly ended it prematurely, causing him to miss the Premier League run-in as well as the Europa League final, in which he surely would’ve played a part. (See also: Ruben Loftus-Cheek.)
But now, especially with Eden Hazard gone, he gets a glorious chance to lead Chelsea into the new era and to more trophies. A lot will be expected from young Callum after he recovers from the injury, which should be very soon. We have no doubt he’s up to the task.
His future is Blue, and that makes us happy.
Congrats, Callum! Let’s win some things.
The one you've all been waiting for!
