It’s turning into quite some week for teenage phenom Billy Gilmour. Yesterday, he signed a new four-year deal with Chelsea. Today, he was named PL2 Player of the Month for August as the Chelsea Development Squad (under-23s) got off to an unbeaten start to sit on the top of the reserves league after four games.
Congratulations to @ChelseaFC midfielder @billygilmourrr!

Gilmour has been so good in fact — last month and throughout preseason — that he’s earned himself a regular spot at first-team training and has even made his Premier League debut for the Blues in the unfortunate 2-2 draw against Sheffield United just before the international break. With Chelsea facing a busy schedule across multiple competitions as we head deeper into the season, those probably won’t be his only first-team minutes this season, or in the seasons to come.
That said, the 18-year-old could be in action later today, back in the PL2, alongside Callum Hudson-Odoi and Reece James, as Chelsea take on Brighton & Hove Albion (7pm kick-off). Should be fun!
