Football is back! Later today, Liverpool will play Norwich City in the first game of the 2019-20 Premier League season. The last game of the first round will be Chelsea’s visit to Old Trafford on Sunday. It will be Frank Lampard’s first official match in charge.

Lampard has shown a willingness to be flexible with his tactics, but has largely played either a 4-2-3-1 or a 4-4-2 diamond in preseason. Which one he might choose is up for debate, though this exercise isn’t really about what he will choose but rather what he should choose. The possibilities are endless!

Unfortunately we do have some injuries to contend with already, with Antonio Rüdiger, Callum Hudson-Odoi, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, and Reece James unavailable and still recovering from their various ailments. N’Golo Kanté played 20 minutes last weekend and could be ready for more, but he may be lacking match fitness just like Willian, who just recently got over his hamstring problem.

So, plenty of injured, plenty of youth, and plenty of questions. What could possibly go wrong?

Choose wisely!
