Following last weekend’s win over Norwich City, Chelsea’s first of the season and Lampard’s first of his Chelsea career, the Blues return home, hoping to make it two in a row. Standing in the way of that budding streak are Sheffield United, back in the top flight after a dozen years’ absence.
Complicating matters a bit for Chelsea is also our fairly extensive injury list, which has even welcomed a couple new faces in the process in Pedro, N’Golo Kanté, and Mason Mount. The extent of Mount’s injury is not yet known (after a kick to the calf in the last game), but the other two are not expected to be fully fit until after the international break. The same is true for Antonio Rüdiger, Callum Hudson-Odoi, and Reece James. Willian could however be fit for starting after making back-to-back substitute appearances.
Those injuries certainly don’t leave too many options.
