PICTURES: Chelsea begin training, preparing for Sheffield United match

Work work work

Chelsea were finally able to put one in the win column last weekend, and will be looking to make that two in a row when we welcome freshly promoted Sheffield United to Stamford Bridge this weekend.

Thanks to a few lingering and a couple new injuries, the squad remains a bit light, missing the likes of N’Golo Kante, Pedro, and Reece James, though all three of Willian, Antonio Rudiger, and Callum Hudson-Odoi joined in today as preparations began for Saturday. The latter two are not expected to take part in actual matches just yet, but surely Willian will be ready for solid minutes after two substitute appearances over the last two weekends.

This will be Chelsea’s only game for the next few weeks, with the international break set to follow immediately after. But once we reconvene, the schedule gets busy — we’ll be learning who our opponents will be in the League Cup and the Champions League group stages as well in the next 24-48 hours! — the stakes get raised, and we will need everyone’s best possible effort and fitness.
