Ethan Ampadu may have played less than 200 minutes of senior professional club football since the turn of the year, but he continues to get picked by Wales manager Ryan Giggs for the national team. And that’s true this time around as well, with the teenager called up for the Euro 2022 qualifying matches against Azerbaijan and Belarus coming up during the September international break.
Ampadu, currently on loan at RB Leipzig, was on the bench for the weekend’s opening round in the Bundesliga as Leipzig easily dispatched 1.FC Union Berlin, 4-0. He had missed Leipzig’s previous game, in the DFB-Pokal through a small injury, but looks to be recovered and ready to fight for his developmental minutes.
Meanwhile, he’ll be looking to add to his already impressive 8 caps with Wales at just age 18.
The full Wales squad for the international break coming up in ten days is as follows:
GOALKEEPERS: Wayne Hennessey (Crystal Palace), Adam Davies (Stoke City), Danny Ward (Leicester City)
