Good news from Chelsea Twitter as Willian was spotted boarding the plane with the rest of the Chelsea squad jetting off to Istanbul for Wednesday night’s Super Cup showdown against Liverpool.
Chelsea’s newest No.10 has been out since the Copa America semifinal with a hamstring injury, but is evidently fit enough to travel and hopefully fit enough to play at least some part in the game.

While the full traveling squad has not yet been confirmed, there appears to be no other surprises in the party, which includes Kenedy who made an unexpected appearance on the bench for Sunday’s season opener at Old Trafford. I guess he’s staying, at least for now.
As one of the most seasoned winners left on the team, perhaps more will be expected from Willian than ever before in a Chelsea shirt, especially now that the number on the back reads ‘10’ instead of ‘22’. Can he blossom into a more impactful players on the scoreboard now that he steps out of Hazard’s shadow? Or has he already reached his ceiling in terms of goals and assists? For better or worse, we’ll probably find out this season, which, as yet, remains his final one at Chelsea.
