The special one to stay in Europe

Jose Mourinho has turned down a bumper £88m (€100m) contract to manage a club in China, according to Sky sources. It is claimed Guangzhou Evergrande were willing to pay the former Manchester United and Chelsea boss £28m a season, with bonuses, in what is believed to be the biggest managerial offer in world football.

Everton owner Farhad Moshiri has ordered the club to look into the feasibility of signing Diego Costa as he attempts to make a ‘statement signing’ in this window. Despite Everton having overspent their budget over the last three years, leaving director of football Marcel Brands the task of reducing a bloated squad, Moshiri has indicated he is willing to pay for a marquee signing up front.

Bournemouth rejected & accepted

Bournemouth have seen an opening bid of £12million for England goalkeeper Jack Butland flatly rejected by Stoke City. Stoke have agreed with 26-year-old Butland that he can leave this summer for £20m plus add-ons should he do well in the Premier League and on the international stage. However, the Championship club insist he will remain in the Potteries to try and win promotion if the asking price is not met.

Bournemouth have agreed a deal to sign Luton’s Jack Stacey for £4m, with the defender set for a medical on Monday. Luton previously rejected three bids for the versatile 23-year-old - voted Luton’s Young Player of the Year last season - after helping the Hatters clinch the Sky Bet League One title, scoring four goals in 45 games.

Gianluigi Donnarumma told Milan he wants to stay, which means reducing his salary with a new contract. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the goalkeeper has made it clear to the new owners Elliott Management that he is committed to rebuilding the Rossoneri.

Paris Saint-Germain could be open to a Malcom plus cash swap deal, with Neymar heading back to FC Barcelona. According to French newspaper La Parisien, PSG would considering a player plus cash move, with former Bordeaux winger Malcom moving to the Parc de Princes.

Real Madrid are holding out for €42m in their negotiations with Napoli over the sale of James Rodriguez. However, as it stands, Napoli are only willing to offer €35m, with Los Blancos determined to get more for a player they spent €73m on five years ago according to Italian daily Gazzetta dello Sport.

Pau for Paulo

Reports in Spain suggest Roma have agreed terms with Real Betis for goalkeeper Pau Lopez at a total cost of over €30m. The Giallorossi identified him as the ideal replacement for Robin Olsen, who was bitterly disappointing last season. Negotiations had stalled over the last couple of days and he was seen in pre-season training with the Spaniards. According to the Diario de Sevilla newspaper, the two clubs have now worked out a deal that will end up being worth over €30m rather than the original €28m.

Vasquez to the Gunners

Arsenal are preparing a bid for Real Madrid midfielder Lucas Vazquez, according to reports in Diario AS. The Spanish international has been widely rumored to be one of the names on Zinedine Zidane’s list of players that can be sold to raise funds for further transfers, and the Premier League side are keen.

Conte wants King Arturo

Inter Milan are considering a move for FC Barcelona midfielder Arturo Vidal, according to reports in Italy. Italian daily newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport have confirmed that new Inter manager Antonio Conte wants to bring the combative Chile international to Serie A, ahead of the 2019-20 season.

Napoli are prepared to pay Inter’s €60m asking price and could even include Lorenzo Insigne in a swap deal for Mauro Icardi, as he’s tempted to turn on Juventus. Now multiple sources are confident Napoli will pay up the €60m asking price for the Argentina international, with a salary that even surpasses the one proposed by Juve. There is even the possibility, according to the Corriere dello Sport, that Insigne could be used as part of an exchange deal for Inter.

Fabian Ruiz wants to see his Napoli salary doubled in order to turn down a move to Real Madrid, claim reports. According to Il Mattino, the midfielder is more than happy to remain at the Stadio San Paolo, but expects to be rewarded for this loyalty.

Duel

Nicolò Zaniolo could leave Roma and join Juventus in exchange for Gonzalo Higuain plus cash, although Tottenham Hotspur offered €23m plus Toby Alderweireld. Talks have hit problems for a new contract and new director of sport Fabio Paratici warned Roma would not go overboard with his salary. Sportitalia and the Corriere dello Sport believe this means Zaniolo is leaning towards the exit and his favoured destination would be Juventus.

Milan have put Fabio Borini on the market and Crystal Palace are preparing an offer, claim reports, with Aston Villa also interested. According to Calciomercato.com and La Gazzetta dello Sport, Crystal Palace are the club ready to make a genuine proposal for Borini.

Inter’s Nainggolan problem

While Napoli and Juve are duelling for Icardi’s signature at a cost of €60m, Nainggolan is seemingly more of a problem, having just arrived from Roma a year ago. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Inter had tried to offer the Belgian to Jiangsu Suning, a Chinese club owned by the same corporation as the Nerazzurri, but he rejected the move. It’s suggested Nainggolan could even be allowed to go out on loan, but his €4.5m per year salary limits the clubs open to that idea.

Gervinho in demand once again

Gervinho had a career revival at Parma and is reportedly fielding offers from Fenerbahce, Galatasaray, Lille, Monaco, even potentially Fiorentina and Inter. The Ivory Coast international only recently turned 32 and proved his pace is still deadly with 11 goals and three assists in 30 Serie A games last season. According to Sportitalia, that proved enough to convince several other clubs that Gervinho still has a lot to give at the top level.

Barca, not Inter

Reports in Brazil claim Inter made an offer to free agent Dani Alves, but he would prefer a return to Barcelona. According to UOL Esporte, Inter have sent a proposal for a two-year contract and the personal terms are considered satisfactory. However, Dani Alves has his heart set on a return to Barcelona, where he spent eight years up to 2016.

According to Sportitalia, Milan are now offering €13m cash plus Biglia, but the problem remains that Fiorentina only want money and no player exchanges. This has also proved an issue with Roma, who have not raised their most recent bid.

WHAT?

After the acceleration on the deal a couple of days ago, Roma’s Stephan El Shaarawy is indeed one step away from moving to China - precisely to Shanghai Shenhua. For the past few weeks, the club have come forward to offer the player a very generous 3-year contract, amounting to around €40 million. Today, an agreement was found between the clubs, with the Giallorossi accepting their €18 million euro offer (bonuses included) for the former Genoa and Milan attacker. Tomorrow, Sunday 7 July, the player will fly to Shanghai, where he will support his medicals and sign his contract.

Gedson Fernandes

After reaching an agreeement with Empoli for Krunic and Bennacer, Milan are looking to add another midfielder to their ranks. The Rossoneri have especially targeted 1999-born midfielder Gedson Fernandes and on Friday they have held contacts with the players agent to inquire about the price set by Benfica. According to the player’s entourage, Benfica value Gedson Fernandes at €30 million plus bonuses.

The Giallorossi are interested in Nkoulou of Torino. Their new director of sport Petrarchi knows him well because he brought him to Italy while at Torino. The asking price from the granata is 35 million euros. Roma have Mancini of Atalanta still in the balance but they are trying for Nkoulou anyway.

West Ham to Sassuolo

Sassuolo are very active on the transfer market. On top of pursuing Borussia Dortmund’s Toljan as a potential replacement for Lirola, the neroverdi are also interested in Pedro Obiang. The West Ham midfielder previously played for Sampdoria, he has been rumored to return to Italy in the past after being linked to Fiorentina.
