After spending a week in the heat and humidity of Japan, Chelsea had been looking forward to slightly cooler temperatures back home ... only to be foiled by a heatwave that set record temperatures across England on Thursday. And while Friday saw more reasonable temperatures and less weirdness like random men going shirtless on public transport, the boys still needed “plenty of water breaks”.
Fortunately, the Drinkwater memes appear to be played out now.

If you look very closely on the right side of picture number four, there’s even better news, as N’Golo Kanté was able to partake in “some” of the session. The official website does not provide any further detail on that, but progress is progress. With Chelsea continuing to be very careful with N’Golo, I’d guess he participated in the warm-ups before doing his own thing while the rest of the group went about their more intense exercises. Based on that, Kanté will presumably not play on Sunday, but maybe will be able to stretch his legs a bit in the last two friendlies before the season begins on August 11.
Let’s finish this off with a few social media selections.
