While Chelsea cannot register any purchases this summer, we are free to make sales. And we have done yet another one, as Daishawn Redan joined Hertha Berlin today on a permanent transfer.

The transfer fee is believed to be around £2.25-5m, as per reports from German and English sources. On his arrival, after completing a medical in Berlin earlier today, he put pen to paper on a ‘long-term contract’ — presumably a five-year deal.
The 18-year-old arrived at Chelsea from Ajax two years ago on a free transfer, after helping them lift the 2016-17 under-17 Eredivisie championship with 10 goals and 2 assists in 7 matches. His return at Chelsea was not as big, as he went to add 32 goals and 7 assists to his record, in 63 matches for us. But at the international level, he is still quite prolific, having scored 9 goals in 11 games with the Netherlands U19 national team.
Previous reports had indicated that Chelsea’s intentions were to keep him and send him on loan. But Redan’s ambition to get first-team football at the top level did not have room for these plans. And so, he moved out of Cobham on a permanent manner instead.
And while the deal may not have a buyback clause, we will probably keep an eye on him. He might not be directly integrated into Hertha Berlin’s first-team, but he is leaving Chelsea as one of our top prospects in recent years. And a return is always in the cards.
Good luck, Redan!
