PICTURES: Day two of training in Japan for Chelsea

Work work work

We’re getting closer to Chelsea’s friendly against Kawasaki Frontale, set to take place on Friday — though because of the time difference, that’s practically just 24 hours away for most of us — so the boys were back out on the training ground on Wednesday for a bit of intense work after the previous day’s light, post-flight session.

The pictures only cover what looks like a shooting practice and a bit of running, though I’m sure the session was far more involved than that. While the primary aim in this second week of preseason will still be to increase the squad’s fitness levels, some more advanced tactical work will surely start being sprinkled in as well.

Meanwhile, back at Cobham, a certain Antonio Rüdiger is putting in the work as well. Here’s a short video of some running (acceleration, deceleration to test that repaired meniscus) and a gratuitous shot of his quads as if this were Love Island*, leg lifts edition.

*(Sorry, I’ve been cooped up at home for the past two weeks after ACL surgery and been binging old season three of Love Island because I hate my life.)
