SQUAD

I think before we look at our opinions as to who should remain to be a part of Frank Lampard's chelsea revolution we must first look at how many we can actually fit into our squad's non home grown quota. So let's first count them

GK: Kepa, Willy (2)

CB: Rudiger, Zouma, Luiz (3)

Full backs: Dave, Emerson, Alonso, Zappacosta (4)

Midfield: Kante, Jorginho, Kovacic, Bakayoko (4)

Wingers: Pulisic, Pedro, Willian (3) (pulisic is U-21 for domestic comepetion)

Striker: Giroud, Batman (2)

We are allowed only 17 non-homegorwn players in both Domestic and European competitions, We must then cut 1 from the squad

GK: without a 3rd choice keeper who is a known quantity, this is a no brainer

CB: While i would like to see the back of Luiz, following last season's displays i think its still not possible with this the transfer ban. Zouma is a beast and could even be chelsea's best defender

Full backs: This is a tricky one. Zappacosta barely played last season and when he did, he didnt inspire. but injury to Reece James (with the latest setback requiring an operation) changes the prospects of an early frontrunner to be cut.

Midfield: The ripple effect from Reece James' injury puts Bakayoko in a tough spot. he has shown that he can be a talent after having a rough patch and i would have loved to give him a chance to show what he can do again in blue. There is also a ready made replacement for him in premier league winner Danny Drinkdriving, who is not only difficult to move as we saw last season but is homegrown and would be willing to be backup.

Winger: We need 4 wingers, period. and with CHO out and the choice number 5 being a subpar and inconsistent, unrealised talent Kenedy, who i believe doesnt qualify as homegrown on The Chels First team roster. However Pulisic would also qualify as U-21 in the Domestic competition but not in europe having not been at the club for atleast 2 years.

Striker: We need both of them + Tammy Abraham if we are to compete on all fronts. end of discussion

Conculsion: The only way to keep both Zappacosta and Bakayoko would be to register both for the premier league but leave one of them out from the Champions league squad. I personally want to keep Bakayoko as i believe he is far superior to Danny Drinkwater

NOW FOR THE FULL SQUAD REVIEW

Central Defenders
  1. Antonio Rudiger

  1. Cesar Azpilicueta
  2. Emerson Palmieri
  3. Marcus Alonso
  4. Reece James (clubtrained HG) (U-21 both domestic and Europe)
  5. Davide Zappacosta (Domestic registration only)

  2. Jorginho
  3. Mateo kovacic
  4. T. Bakayoko (sorry DD)
Attacking Midfield
  1. Ruben Loftus Cheek (clubtrained HG)

  3. Mason Mount (clubtrained HG) (U-21 both domestic and Europe)
Winger
  1. Callum Hudson-Odoi (clubtrained HG) (U-21 both domestic and Europe)

  3. Pedro
  4. Willian
Striker
  1. Olivier Giroud
  2. Michy Batshuayi
  3. Tammy Abraham (clubtrained HG)
That makes it a 28 player squad including a 4th choice keeper in Jamal blackman who can be chelsea's regular third choice for the forseable future

With only Ross Barkley being FA trained HG for the champions league that leaves us 7 spots for club trained players who can be registered
  1. Tammy Abraham
  2. Ruben Loftus Cheek
  3. Fiyako tomori (if selected ahead of Ampadu, see below)
  4. Andreas Christiansen
  5. Jamal Blackman

Ethan Ampadu

He has been biding his time and after a bright start under Conte who liked what he saw, regressed somewhat under Sarri. Being a full international i think he needs to play regular minutes to fully realise his potential. if he can pull a Reece James and become a sensation he can still come back next season and become a club trained player as he is only turning 19 this year

Loanees for this season

  1. Ethan Ampadu: I think it is paramount that we prioritise finding a good loan for young Ethan. It would be ideal to play for a premier league club but if minutes arent guaranteed then even a top Championship loan with a team vying for promotion would do
  2. Kasey Palmer: Palmer had a decent run in the premier league for Birghton but injuries caught up to him, i think we should give him another chance to show what he can do
  3. Lewis baker: a source of frustration for many chelsea fans with an eye on the academy. Comfortable with both feet and dictates the tempo of the game. i think he should head back to Reading where he made an impact last season
  4. Jake Clarke Salter: overtaken by Fikayo Tomori but not yet the end of the road for the talented youngster, if he can star in a championship team this season then the sky is the limit for him
  5. Trevor Chalobah: undoubted talent like his brother nathaniel, I hope his career trajectory eventually leads him to chelsea or a top premier league team like his brother. I hear West brom are interested
  6. Dujon Sterling: glimpses of quality during the Bohemians game but would need to get a much better loan this time around if he is to progress
  7. Marc Guehi: time for him to step up Championship or League one loan
  8. Conor Gallagher: lets see what he can do championship loan
  9. Billy Gilmour: Would love to see him in a scottish premier league instead of the Championship

Players we need to sell

  1. Marco Van Ginkel: Philip cocu seems keen on reuniting with his captain from thier time at PSV.
  2. Danny Drinkwater: we should have never bought him. i think lewis baker's career could have been different if we kept him instead of danny that summer
  3. Kenedy: unlikely to cut it at stamford bridge not for lack of talent but a lack of mentality. Loan to buy if no outright sale available
  4. Lucas Piazon: Sell Sell Sell
  5. Danilo pantic: plenty of suitors in eastern european leagues i would believe
  6. Izzy brown: hasnt lived up to the hype and i believe would benefit from a permanent home
  7. Micheal Hector: Sheffield Wednesday's player of the season should have no problem finding a permanent home in the championship with both Wednesday and Leeds insterested
  8. Omeruo: With his performances for Leganes and the nigerian national team, he can easily find a place lower table clubs of the top european leagues
  9. Baba Rahman: lets hope we find a buyer for him, too injury prone i believe for anyone to risk
  10. Matt Miazga: we have a new captain america in our corner and this one needs a new club
